Sunrise 5:56: Hot and languid


The air remains heavy with the smoke from the many California fires. An article in yesterday's Chronicle says the smoke is actually keeping temperatures down by a few degrees during the day. But it's also keeping things warmer overnight. The usual freshness in the air that makes the female Dawn Jogger's morning outings so pleasant is missing. So she plods along with heavy legs, noticing how the lake gets smaller with each day. Looks like there's only one duckling family that needs to reach maturity before the lake goes away...
