Sunrise 6:49: Snake in the grass


San Francisco Chronicle outdoor writer Tom Stienstra warned in his column last Sunday that hikers should be on the lookout for rattlesnakes, which were warming up and becoming active. The Dawn Joggers have seen some rattlers and other snakes over the years on their midday hikes. This morning the female DJ saw a very dead baby rattler near the graduate student housing adjacent to the driving range. She'd never seen a snake of any kind on the campus - and was glad this one was in "inactive." Where there's one baby, are there more snakes in the grass...
